Test-sorry

I posted a rather lengthy introductory post "Hi, all. This is my first
post." (or something to that effect)

....but it looks like it flew out the window of a speeding Porsche because it
hasn't posted here yet..

Or, at least *I* haven't seen it yet.

Thanks.

OK, this "Test-sorry" post came right through.

Wonder why that is. I mean, you spent 30 minutes pouring your heart out and
then you can't see it, and then post something like "Test", and POOT! -
there it is.

Thanks.

Yes it did, please use a test newsgroup in future.

Yes, sir. But, sir, I mean my *original* post, not my "Test-sorry" post.

I know better, sir.

What do you mean? I still can't see my original post. Could you?

Thanks!

Maybe not "check", since Google Groups turned Usenet into a confusing mess
from formerly dejanews.

I'm beginning to think you are a rather rude moderator, and this group
doesn't welcome new faces favorably.

Your pert answers have not helped me one iota, Andrew. Thanks, anyway.

One way or another, plugging "hi all my first post here" into Google Groups
and restricting the time to the past week showed your post at the third one
listed.

Moderator? Do you see "moderated" anywhere in the name of this newsgroup?

> Your pert answers have not helped me one iota, Andrew. Thanks, anyway.

Perhaps he was a bit abrasive, but the fact remains that you could have
determined whether your post did in fact get propagated to USENET by
searching for it on Google Groups. If you do not see it the odds are that
either there was some kind of a glitch when your newsreader attempted to
read it or you have it filtered somehow. While those here might be able to
proffer general advice on how to troubleshoot such a problem, we aren't
sitting in front of your machine.

Your original post is definately there. The problem is likely that you used
Outlook Express to post it and to try to read it. If you refresh the
headers too soon after posting, you will not see your post until you reset
the group and redownload all the headers fresh. Wait at least 10 minutes
before getting new headers after posting or get a real newsreader that
doesn't screw up so bad.

You probably didn't get any replies since there really wasn't a question in
your post.

OK, thanks, John. I get it now. Sometimes it takes awhile for my post (or
others) to show up in my newsreader (OutLook Express). But like you and
Andrew said, it was at Google Groups on the web.

No, another mistake I admit to. I apologize, Andrew.

John, I think I have the hang of it now, thank you. If I want to see if my
post "made it", then I check alt.comp.periphs.videocards.nvidia at Google
Groups on the web.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you. I get it now. LookOut! Express does OK most of time. I do have to
learn it does take more time in some newsgroups than others to read fresh
posts.

Yes, that's true. And I admit quite a bit of it strayed Off Topic, going
into the case, fans, etc., but I was just excited to think I was able to put
together a decent system (the first in six years), and share the news with
others here. I was particularly excited about the BFG GeForce 6800GT OC.
I've never had a card that expensive.

Merely wanted some "Atta boy"s, I guess. Plus mention that the computer was
a (so I think) very good deal and inform readers where to read about the
gear.

Sincerely: thank you all for your help, and maybe after cranking this thing
up, I can talk shop better around here.

With OE use the F5 button to refresh. Oh yes and don't forget to ignore the
anal retentive dimwits, you will see who I mean, do your own thing and enjoy
yourself, this group is not moderated so top, middle of sideways post if
that suits your particular post, that way you don't have to scroll through
unsnipped posts.

Cheers.

What! You still want him to reply to you? Sounds like you would be

Don't sweat it. I plonked that idiot years ago. He has nothing to
offer except snide comments and stupidity.
