Do I buy this card?

Hi all,

I'm going to put together my own PC soon (See below), and as I already have
an fx5500 256MB in my current PC, is it worth it buying this GeForce 6200
128MB card instead of buying an fx5200 to put in the old system and take the
5500 and put it in new rig? Will I see any speed difference? And will the
difference in half the memory be noticable? Or are there any other cards
(ATi or Nvidia, but Nvidia preferred.) that I should consider for £70 max?

If I miss any info, just say.

Thanks,

Neil

Nvidia 6600 (Not GT) about £70 from everywhere.

I'm stupid when it comes to converting other nations currency
into USD, but it seems cheap. Make sure it's not a 64bit memory bus
6600. They go for the price of a 128bit 6200 here in the States, but
with only a 64bit memory bus, you'd problably get less performance
than the 128bit 6200.

OK...Its taken me almost 6 hours to realise that I didn't post the link to
the card I asked about!

Its here:
http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=308123&cks=ASS&assoc=D8029637-0DDA-48DA-9BA1-03B0D58EDEA7

Is the 6200 not a worthwhile upgrade then? And I know its the wrong group,
but can anyone recommend an ATi card?

Cheers,

Neil

If you're looking at an ATI card get yourself over to E-Bay and try to
find a Radeon 9700 Pro. Nearly the same performance as a 9800Pro and
around your price bracket.

Another Question is, do I really need a 256MB card? Is the 256MB ever fully
used? Or will I be safer saving my money and buying a 128MB card?

Half Life 2 and Doom 3 will use it but not much else.

Would I notice any difference between having either of those? My current is
a 256, would I see any difference in a 128?

Cool. Well. That's how much 64bit 6600 cards are going for
here in the states.
