In my 4th run through the game, I decided to just do the story missions and
no extras except Firefighter and a bit of time on the exercise bike to
buildup stamina. After completing End of the Line, I decided to fill in all
the other stuff to get to 100%. When I come to have a go at the Taxi Driver
missions, I activate the mission, and then drive round for ages with the
message "There are no fares nearby, keep looking" constantly on the screen,
and no passengers are ever generated. This happens in all the cities, and
for both types of cab.

Has anyone else come across this, and if so what is the solution? In my
previous games, where I have done the taxi mission early on, I have had no
problem. No cheats used, or mods / patches applied.

In VC etc you had to steer clear of gang areas, but to be honest I
haven't had any problems of this sort with SA, or very rarely. Not PC
version though. Have you tried making sure you're in your own
territory?

Yes I'm having the same problem - maybe you have to be in a particular area
for the fares to spawn....

Looks like there are so solutions near by and we will have to keep looking!

Verified: Areas without *any* gang are fare pick-up zones. Most green
territories work though, but only if their not bordering yellow or
purple.

Strange huh?

On a side note, I really wish they'd implemented longer distances for
taxi missions, or even an inter-city courier service using a plane or
chopper or something. That and the ability to de-rail the trams would
have been nice. Anyone remember that crash scene in The Rock?

Cheers,
Rob

yes, that would be cool, the long distance thing. I suppose that's why
they brought in the trucking missions? I've only done the first two
:O)

Paul, as we suggested to Rob, are you using areas which are not gang
controlled? It is usually harder to get a customer when in a heavily
controlled area, though not always.

Thanks for the replies. I have 100% of territories, so I don't think that's
the problem. I have driven round all areas of the city, and all round the
other cities with no fares showing up. I guess I'll just complete this one
to 99 1/2%.

it's strange though and the only thing I can think is you left it too
late. when i did bother with the taxi missions I always did them very
early, to make money and boost my driving, so maybe leaving it late is
the killer

Bit of a stupid thing for a game to stop you getting 100% though isn't
it?

As the 50 fares don't have to be done all at once, have you tried going
to SF or LV Rob? I can't remember if you stated this in your original
post.

Cheers,
Rob

I am having this problem on my third run through the game on the PC. I
started a new game, with the weapons-keeping benefits carried over from
my previous game, and can't do any taxi missions. I just did Burning
Desire, still no luck.

I tried starting another new game, and it does work, so I think I might
just junk my other game and do the first few missions again. Shame, as
I had done all the tags as well as Firefighter and Vigilante.
