Video appears 'washed out'

Just bought a 6800gt and video in Media Player 10 (as with others)
looks very 'washed out' - basically useless... using 77.72 drivers...
any ideas? Everything else is fine... thanks!

Solves my problem too.

So hard to find how to ask this in google.

Thought it must be driver as Linux on same machine is OK.
