It seems that there is a bug in the new drivers. Roll it back to driver
version 71.89

Brightness and contrast can be adjusted from the Overlay properties page
found in nVidia Settings. FromVidia Settings in the system tray, go to
NVIDIA Display -> name monitor model. Under the words " Apply color changes
to:" select Overlay from the drop down list, and make the adjustment while a
video clip is playing.

OK, so others have encountered a bug with the lastest drivers.

Taken from another post:
--------
Bug #2 - Color correction default profile causes whited out video playback.

To fix, select All instead of Desktop or Overlay and make a change, then
click Restore Defaults. The whacked out gamma is gone.

Even though the overlay was only affected, the problem is not in the Overlay
controls
It really is that simple.
-------

I never encountered this bug because the first thing I do after installing
nVidia's drivers is to adjust colors for both Desktop and Overlay.
