Via 4 in 1 Install problem

I have an FIC AD11 mainboard and it uses the VIA 686B south bridge. When I first got the board it worked great everything loaded fine. Then I had a bad crash on some software and decided to reformat. Now the VIA 4in1's say that they are installed but when you look in the device manager it says that microsoft is the driver provider. So I tried to update the driver and windows always defaults back to it's own driver. It absolutely will not allow me to specify the driver of my choice. It will show the path to the driver I specify for a brief moment then the display jumps back to microsoft's driver. Does anyone know a trick to force windows 98 SE to accept these VIA drivers, or maybe a particular order to install, ANYTHING help,Please!!!

When you go to update the driver it asks you if you want windoze to look for it or specify...choose specify.
