The numbers are somewhat misleading. If you Google for benchmarks, a 6600GT
will often do better than a 9800 Pro, even though the 9800 Pro offers a
higher theoretical fill rate.
The 6800 is clearly superior. The 6800 GT is better yet, as it has the full
16 pipelines (vs. 12 for the non-GT) and higher clocks.
On the other hand, a 9800 Pro is a good card. Depending on the system behind
it, you may wish to wait for a more major upgrade, including a PCI-Express
mainboard.
