Hi everyone,

I know there has been a number of discussions on this topic, but I was
wondering if there is anyone out there that might have been successful with
making an ad-hoc connection with an IPAQ 3955 that runs WM 2003. I went
through a number of web sites and old postings on various newsgroups (using
Google) and tried applying the info I found to varying degrees (such as
setting different IP addresses for my Windows XP and Pocket PC machines and
turning on Windows XP ICS), but the farthest I was able to go was that the
Pocket PC was able to detect the USB wireless adapter on my home PC but I
was still not able to use ActiveSync nor use any internet applications. I
did wonder if my WiFi CF card (it's an Ambicom WiFi CF Card) may not support
ad-hoc in WM 2003, but I would think that if it supports ad-hoc using PPC
2002 OS, then it should support WM 2003 as well. I did search through
Ambicom's web site as well but I did not find a support article on this
specific topic.

If anyone could offer some help on this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Fred Byon

I spent days trying to get my Dellx3i working AdHoc to my desktop. I also
looked back at previous articles and tried everything you did. I could get
active sync working fine - but no luck with the internet.

Having checked everything I finally switched off my firewall (zone alarm)
and got straight through! I then went and tweaked settings in ZA (as well
as making sure it knew it was supposed to allow ICS) and now it all works
fine.

It may not be your problem - but my advice is to check the firewall and see
if that causing you similar problems

Cheers
Geoff
