HDTV OUT

Can anyone tell me why HDTV out is so expensive on a video card? I am using
the DVI output to my TV...

What do you mean by "so expensive"? DVI is supported by most HDTV displays
and the ATI boards support component video with a $25 or so adapter that
comes with some models.
