Are these scores any good 3DMark 2001 SE 16,274 and 3DMark 2003 5,643 good?

I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro cat 4.4, P4P800 Deluxe mobo, Intel P4
3.06MHz 533FSB Proc and Windows XP SP1 directx 9.0b.

thanks

Those scores are about what I would expect. It's been a while since I
ran either benchmark, probably back in or around the Catalyst 3.7 days
last year, but I got a 3DMark2001SE score of around 15,900 and a
3DMark2003 Build 330 score of 5720 at default settings. No
overclocking. I have a P4 2.8GHz Northwood C processor (800MHz FSB),
Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000 Pro motherboard (Intel 865PE chipset), 1GB of
PC-3200 Kingston Value RAM (CAS3) running in dual channel mode, and a
built by ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB.

Did you perhaps notice the "project search and compare" at Futuremark?
You can compare your scores to a nearly identical system and see how
yours rates.
Simple

Which IME isn't a very good guide since there is so much varience in the
scores for the 'same' system. ORB as a tool to find if your system is
configured correctly, or as a guide to in game performance is pretty
much worthless.

As to the original poster's question, that score seems about right.

As Steve said, a "search and compare" would be helpful for you. Pick some of
the other scores that are in the middle range of the compare and then look
at the cpu and video card OC speeds to make sure you're comparing apples to
apples.
My scores are 6793:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=2312527
and 20769:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7714402
with a 9800 Pro, but as you can see, my 9800 and P4 2.4c are lightly OC'd.
You need to filter out results like mine. I'd say your 3DM' 03 score is just
about average and indicate no problems with your video card. Your 3DM01SE
score may be a little lower than I'd expect. This test is more cpu dependant
than 3DM' 03. Not knowing your motherboard or memory configuration, it's
hard to give advice.
With a 9800 Pro (OC'd) and P4 1.8a running at 2.5 gHz, my score is 16850:
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7558858
I would have expected your 3.06 gHz cpu to get scores in the 18,000's with a
stock 9800 Pro, but I haven't done a "search and compare" on your
configuration to really check it out. Anyway, the 6% difference (roughly)
doesn't amount to much and can easily be consumed by the type, timing, speed
and configuration of your memory, the model of your motherboard, and the
settings of your video card. How much work you want to go through to go
from 50 to 53 fps in a game is up to you.

3DMark 03 scores are about as trustworthy as Aryan propaganda. You can get
significantly different scores by mix-n-matching Catalyst driver versions
and 3DMark versions (313, 330, 340), yet all the scores are considered
"comparable".

I would be more inclined to go on actual FPS in games. 3DMark 2001 does
reports this IIRC.
I did have the situation with an Nvidia card where my 3DMark 2001 scores
improved but in many games the acual framerate dropped.
If you can, record an in game demo and use that to benchmark the games you
play.
