ATI AIW 9600 XT TV error

New PC, new problem...........
AMD 3200+ 64 bit, 1 gig corsair ram, Gigabyte MB. 80 and 160 gig WD drives,
ATI AIW 9600 XT. Win XP Pro SP1 "everything new"
PC works killer except during the video card install . I got the error
message " cannot install this hardware media data is invalid "
during the ATI WDM rage theater video install. all other drivers installed
and are ok in Device manager.
PC works great, DVD playback, file play back, daily PC use..... but when
TV is started, error appears.. "The TV player failed to initialize the
video"
Installed latest drivers, same problem, uninstalled drivers again thru
device manager, reinstalled, same error, followed directions from ATI's web
site.
any ideas ?????????????
PC is running rock steady and screaming except no TV
