My new HP iPaq 2215 running continually "loses track of time" usually in the
evening. It resets the time just fine when I synch it up with my PC.

Any clues?

TIA---

This may or may not help you. But are you using Wisbar advance or any
other toolbar skinning software? The reason I ask is the other day, I
thought mine had lost track of time too...but instead Wisbar was taking
it's sweet time updating the time in the taskbar.

Sounds hardware related, especially if it resets to the correct time
when you dock it.

Check your settings in ActiveSync. Do you have it set to sync PDA time with
Desktop time?

Yes, but what would that have to do with it losing track of time when it's
NOT docked? I may be missing something here...

TIA...

No that would not have anything to do with your time loss (the activesync
docking).
You said that mainly it loses time in the evening. Is this also time that
you are using it or do you mean when its turned off ? Is it a random time
loss, or something that stays pretty much the same ? Also if you leave it
off all night, but not plugged into the charger does it lose the same amount
of time if it is plugged into the charger ?
Sorry for all the questions, the losing time issue is a pretty rare one and
never heard of it on the newer ones.

I leave it on my nightstand (NOT in the charger) at night to 1) provide me
some MP3s to listen to as I fall asleep, and 2) to serve as an alarm clock
for medication during the night and to wake me in the morning. I do have
the power down set to 5 mins so I can listen to a piece or two of music
before it powers itself off. When I turn it back on in the morning, there
is still PLENTY of battery life left in the 2215, but the clock has
"slipped" anywhere from 2 to 7 hours, indicating this is not a _battery_
problem.

This approach should work. It's very frustrating...

TIA.........
