9800SE can any of these be unlocked to be TRUE 9800 pros i..

Got some brands, names countrys ?

And if they are unlockable are they as good as a true 9800 pro ?, ram
speed wise ect.

Just would like to save some money on my next card upgrade, before i
skip atleast two Generations of Vid cards might get the next gen or
after than when photorealistic graphics are realy here :)

Some 9800SE's CAN be indeed modded into 9800 Non Pro mode. Generally
the 9800SE's come with slower memory ( 3,3 ) thus overclocking it to
9800 Pro speed will.. not be always possible.

There we're shops selling 9800SE's that there pre-checked to see if
they could run with 8 pipelines. If they could they we're sold as
9800SE but slightly more expensive and a half kind of garantue that 8
pipelines WHERE working.

But ofcourse... that is not now anymore!

Depends if you want the tuner and capping features... I did. I was
upgrading from an 8500DV, and the chance to get 9800pro power and
video cap facilities for such a low price was a big temptation.

Luckily my card unlocked perfectly.
