To this Bobby guy who thinks he's the man:
I'm sorry if you don't believe me but that's what's on my laptop screen and
pda screen "POCKET_2004PC". Now, if you can't find a way to be helpful at
least don't go around being rude and writing stupid stuff to other people.

There is nothing like Pocket PC 2004PC!!!!! If there was sth like that it
would be Windows Mobile 2004 for Pocket PC... not some Pocket_2004PC which
is so stupid that I have no more words to say...

This is offensive when you SCREAM on the news group so you are being rude
not him.

Let's calm down people... If both are rude then there is no way to have a
decent conversation.
However, I'm really (I mean REALLY) sure that there isn't a Microsoft
operating system called Windows Mobile 2004 or Windows Pocket PC 2004 or
anything else with the number 2004, so, what you should be seeing is the
name given to your device.
You can check this out by tapping Start --> Settings --> System -->
About --> Device ID.
This device ID is the name of your device in a network, just like the name
you give to your computer. ActiveSync will show that name as well when
synchronizing.
You should always post your messages as replies to related threads, so, we
can easily read what was going on. I don't remember your original question
and really can't search the newsgroups for it, so, if you can post it here
again I will try to help you.
Cheers,
Paulo

Well...please let us know the version of the OS on your PPC.
You can find that information by tapping Start --> Settings --> System -->
About --> Version.
E.g.
On my device (running Windows Mobile 2003) the version tab say:
Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 4.20.0 (Build 14053)
Let us know what your device say.

Guys... before you get over excited... I think it's just the device name
that registers on ActiveSync... nothing more...
Probably the guy who tested it synchronized it and gave it a new name
changing it from PocketPC to Pocket_2004PC.

That's what I was thinking :-) But let's see, maybe this is an internal
super secret beta. Hey man, let me know who should I speak with to get into
the 2004 beta :-p

By reading your post, I would ask you some more information about your
problem:
Which connection do you mean?
What do you use for that connection (ActiveSync with USB/serial/Bluetooth,
WI-FI, modem)?
Which error messages do you get when trying to connect?
BTW, just an advice, never type messages in uppercase because it looks very
unpolite for who's reading.
Cheers,
Paulo.

Not knocking you in particular Paulo but it amazes me how someone can be
considered impolite because they use all caps (half the time Ive hit caps
lock and didnt even realize it). I don't care who came up with that
nonsense but its really retarded. Probably the same moron that decided
bottom posting is the smart way to have an email conversation. Half the
posts on these NG's are nothing more than personal attacks yet if you post
in caps you get the "net police" screaming at ya. Common sense folks.

You don't offend me at all asking me that. Feel free to tell me everything
you want as I fell free to do not answer you if I think that it's not worth
answering. :-)
However, since the early days of IRC, and I mean the times when the internet
started to become popular, there is a common sense that writing in uppercase
means shouting, so, we try to do not do that unless we are angry with the
person we're talking with.
I completely agree with you that half of the posts in this newsgroup are
just personal attacks and I strongly believe that it is a hinder for the
usefulness of it, but the least I can try is to talk with people and try to
be always polite and focus on problems, never on personal flame wars.
Of course I don't believe I'm the perfect newsgroup poster at all, but I try
to do my best to help solve problems for people who needs it and I would
really like to see other people doing that.
That's just my opinion.
Cheers,
Paulo

See my reply to your earlier message. Your issue us related to the Device ID
(or the name that you choose for your PDA).
