The X800 XT PE on ati site will be $100 less than the 9800 pro 256 megger
when it first came out that I bought luckily NOT at retail price.

Plus selling my 9800 Pro 256 meger to a friend... and getting X800 XT PE
below retail... so I think I saved a bundle for buying now.

The XT always was aimed at those with more money than sense with the
aim of evening up this ratio. It never was value for money. By the
time that games are arriving that can use the extra oomph over the
pro, the world has moved on again.

Maybe the last 9800 XT rolled off the production line a long time ago, and
they think they are *collector's items*. I do hope the 9800 XT drops to
<$200 once the X800 XT is available, as I was planning on buying one. After
the 9800 Pro dropped in price, I figured the 9800 XT would soon go the same
way.

How much does an X800 with passive cooling go for? You're not comparing
apples to apples--the Sapphire "Ultimate" boards have passive cooling and
Sapphire charges a premium for that feature.

ATI's price for the 9800 Pro-128 is $249.95, the XT hasn't dropped a
penny.

Yep... I noticed... every day it will be harder for the venders to
dump them at a good price. Its a loss at this point for any vender
who has 9800xts in stock.

A vender dumping the 9800XT for $275 or less will RID them quickly,
but by MID-JUNE, those same cards will be worth $200.

Expect a FASTER X800-NON Pro to sell for about $275 in 3 months.
