Scenario: Windows 2003/2000 domain. All computers are domain members. Many
users never connect after the computer is setup. They dial up or use VPN.
Client machines are Win XP (SP2).
Situation: Mgmt says for me (IT Mgr) to force password changes in near
future. I'm planning to NOT include remote users until I can find out how to
prevent them from problems with cached password and then a different password
once they connect.
Question: How can I have the user change their domain password when
connected REMOTELY and also change the cached password to eliminate 2
passwords unless they are hooked up to the network?
I also have a computer I use at home to connect to the office. It was
originally set up on the network and is a domain member. I will also end up
with 2 passwords unless I can figure out the answer to this question. I log
on with cached credentials and then connect via VPN to the domain.
