The PC cards are physically the same, yes. But the BIOS is different. I know
you can flash a 64Meg PC Radeon 8500 into the Mac Radeon 8500 by using the
Mac BIOS. But you have to make sure it's physically identical. Flashing the
Radeon 8500 128Mb with the 64 Mb Mac BIOS results in an unusable card. There
was no 128Mb Mac version. Presumably you can do the same with the 9800 Pro.
Googling it I found a number of forums discussing exactly this.
