- Download newest ATI driver files (4.6) from ATI and save to your hard
drive
- download driver cleaner - do google searh - and install on your computer -
but don't remove naything yet
- Uninstall Nvidia drivers using Windows remove program.
- Power down
- Take out Nvidia card and install ATI card .. don't forget to plug in power
cord on teh ATI card
- boot up in safemode and then run drvier cleaner and get rid of Nviida
stuff - directions are pretty easy
- reboot and computer will find new hardware and then install the new ATI
driver set you just downloaded
- enjoy

Good Lord, just add/remove programs the Nvidia drivers. Swap out the card
and load up the new ATI drivers. That's all I did....

That does not always work well. I went from a Geforce2 GTS Ultra to a Radeon
9100 and just uninstalling via add/remove was not enough. The 9100 had major
issues with stability and slow screen draws. After I thoroughly scoured out
all Nvidia registry references and Nvidia files it ran normally.

The process of running drive cleaner takes about 5 minutes or less. Clean
that stuff up. I went from a 4400 to a 9800 Pro and did the same steps as I
described and did not have ANY problems.

One quibble with that, Wookie - when Windows finds the new hardware,
cancel out of the Wizard. Don't use it to try to install the drivers.
_Then_ run the driver installation .exe. ;-)
