With 86 billion dollars you can...
wipe out a disease globally
send a manned mission to Mars
give every teacher a 60000.00 signing bonus
Build a supercollider to increase our fundamental undestanding of matter
Pay for the rebuilding of a country that we were told would be paid for by revenues generated from liberated oil fields.
My point is this is real money that could be put to better use. 86 billion is not just a number, it represents wasted potential.
uncaring, american pig-dog
Question is did they already know that right at the start...
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
with 86billion dollars you can buy 86billion things at the dollar store!

My computer is so fast it proves the theory of relativity wrong...
It's ridiculous. So much money is being spent rebuilding Iraq when so much shoud be spent here.
Why isn't our government saying "Hey, Ford, we'll give you $1 billion to build a new manufacturing plant in Harlem so you can employ about 20,000 American's and get out of Mexico and help this country." Or, "Hey 50 states, here's $1-2 billion each so you can hire 20,000 people or more to rebuild your infrastructure." Fvcking crooks in the white house is what they are.
-------------------------------------------
"Trying is the first step towards failure."
Ford would use the money to build a plant in a country poorer than Mexico so they can 'maximise profits'. It's damn hard making profits you know.

the real number is 87 billion plus the 75 billion authorized in what march and already they are broke, who ever does the accounting for the pentagon should be fired. they should have to repay the american people every dollar that has been spent on this fiasco. this is just the beginning, so lets see in addition to the $400 billion dollar defense budget we have given them an extra 75 + 87 =162 billion dollars. that is more money than the majority of people who inhabit this country combined will see in a lifetime. even a billion dollars could do wonders, give each state a billion dollars because every state is in debt, although some more than others. or better yet give every person 5000 dollars tax free

I think its worth.
Well from what i hear where helping rebuild a country that has been ran by a Tyrant. I think its a good thing. Personally we should of finished the job on Desert Strom.

no such thing as a liberated oil field ROFLMAO
rather strange that its 100% impossible to liberate an oil field (unless refering to the use of the word liberate as in to steal) as it is not a person and cannot be opressed by anyone, even if saddam was opressing anyone he is physically unable to do so to an oil field.
but hey lets not talk about use of words.
the big issue is that the US is now in so much debt its screwed for years to come, from the biggest surplus of all time to the biggest debt
you elected him hes your dog to keep on a leash.

I think you underestimate the USA. I think I've told you that before.

Just to put things in perspective, for $86B we could probably buy your country. Your GDP is $75B and you have $40B in debt.

HUH?
WTF are you talking about bitch!!!
when did i underestimate the US, i was suporting the original poster by saying that it was a waste of money you gummo!!
p.s. do i claim that my country is anything great in size? nope
but i do think that in QUALITY our class is far superior to the US
for 4 million people i think a GDP of 75billion is plenty, frankly i'm not starving, i don't live in fear of guns, i don't see many car chases or other dumb crimes, i have plenty of trees to enjoy, and cheap accomidation, a kick arse computer, 1st world status, nuclear free, no enemys (that i know of), little racism (not zero but where is there), fantastic education, reasonable public health system, good film industry, plenty of jobs, large water space, good pollution levels, lots of whales in our water, nobody called dhuckle, 1 poisinous spider, no bears, no aligators, no crocs, no snakes, no tigers/lions/ other dangerous creatures blah blah blah.
frankly our country is the size of a single state in australia, we don't claim to be any more and don't want to be either.
size isn't everything bro, well to slutty chicks it might be, but who wants to be so fcuking shallow. in the big picture the US is gonna be ten times more fcuked than NZ if anything happens in the world.
oh and best of all we use our military for PEACE KEEPING only, we only enter countrys that have specificly asked to be helped, and we work under the desires of the locals to fight against gorillas etc... we have no desire to spend crap loads on stupid wars, we would rather help with a limited force in a small country (east timor for example) than take unilateral actions to take over the world.
i don't even know why you mentioned sh|t DH i tend to agree with scamtron and others that you are just a Sh|t stirer. come on grow up buddy.
Alltaken
I think you are the one that needs to grow up. Are you really that naive? I mean seriously. I was going to quote you and then bring up how stupid each comment was. Well actually it's not so much stupid as it is ignorant.

I bet you have stars and stripes painted in all of your rooms in your house. You have pictures of gw junior in your front room. You tuned your tvs to fox news, and broke all the remotes and buttons on your tvs.
Every morning you go in front of your gw pictures and sing your anthem, followed by chanting USA, USA, USA repeatedly for 15 minutes, and then you go to work (posting on THG forums).
Yeah, that's really constructive. Thanks for that. Now do one.

Seconded.

One or Two?

I'm sorry to say DH, but I don't think an entire country could be purchased for an amount barely above a nation's annual GDP. Let's not forget that Gross Domestic Product is "The market value of all final goods and services produced in a nation during a period of time, , usually a year.
So, I guess with the clause "usually a year" you could technically say "10 years", or "100 years", but when we think of GDP, we usually recognize it in terms of an annual basis.
Also, as a futher reminder to everyone, GDP will include only the values of goods and services earned by a natiion within its boundaries. THus, it includes only the income derivived from factorories within the country & not outside of the nation's borders.
With that being said, the GDP is isn't the aggregate worth of the enitire country itself, just the value of goods manufactured in a year. So the entire worth of the nation altogether wouold be the net some of all previous GDP's combined after accounting for Net Depreciation of goods. Also, in a Nation's GDP, there are other factors that are ignored where bookoos of money that were made are left unnaccounted for, like illicit narcotics sales, prostitution, Frauds, etc.
I think it might be a good idea to get TheGreatGrapeApe in on this issue, he has an Economics Major, working on his Masters Degree, & would be much better informed about this issue than all of us.

His post was just overwhelming with idiocy, it's a waste of time to point it all out and a lot easier to say 95% of what you just said is completely stupid.

In Auburn's defence, he was merely relating the fact that it's a waste of time, as all that guys does is make derogatory comments designed to inflame the situation. In other words, pointless

Always welcome.
No point tellin him that. All he knows is how to tell others that their countries are [-peep-], and the united states of america has the god given right to ignore international borders, international laws, human rights, morality and ethics to ensure it will make an extra dollar.
Would you like this better?
"I don't think nature of that post warrants my time to type out a detailed, quoted response, constructive or otherwise."
Better? Or should I bring up the comment in that thread that I think is buried (don't know what happened to it after my last post before I went to our ballgame Saturday) where you had the nerve to say that no Americans have ever earned anything? Was that constructive or backed up with reasoning?
War Eagle
You mean to say you don't like or agree with 95% of what he said. Learn to speak english.
It's not worth it because we can't afford it at this time. An extra $126 billion in a year, in the time of a struggling economy and lost jobs at home? It is not worth it! To me the administration had alterior motives in going to war, as Saddam had no terrorist links and was not an immenent threat to the US.
I agree that Saddam was a bad man and was cruel to his people. So are all nearly all the dictators in Africa, the rest of the Middle East, and some in Southeast Asia. But, those other countries seem to be lacking one thing besides their evil leaders... The biggest oil reserves on the planet.
| Quote : Note: i goto NYC daily. |
That's the problem with most Americans. They think Saddam had something to do with 9/11, when in reality they had nothing to do with it or Al Quida.
| Quote : Aslong i can live in a world w/o fear of Terror im happy. |
Yeah, but the Bush administration will never let this happen. Their new "Terror Alert" system is always on, always saying that another attack will happen soon. They are doing NOTHING to ease the fear, they are instilling it even more. I find it dispicable that all they say is "a terrorist attack will most likely happen," and not actually telling the people what the threat exactly is and how they know. Don't you think it odd that they do this? The reason they do it is there is no daily terrorist threat, but they know keeping people generally scared of it always will let them lie and cheat to get support by the general population to do things like go to war in Iraq. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Department of Homeland Security is dissolved, and the USA PATRIOT Act repealed, when the new president takes Bush's place.

How dare you bunch of unpatriotic, unamerican, ungrateful, communist, muslim, baby eating, bleeding heart liberal women analyse what the government is doing at a time like this.
Don't you know these are times of terror. Only two years ago those ba$tards flew a plane into two buildings. You have the audacity to live in the protection and comfort provided by the government, and question how it is provided?
Shame on you. May god strike you down with his wrath and may you burn in hell.
I read that thread at great length. Seemed to me you were banging your head up against a brick wall with the responses you got. So I don't blame you on this occasion. Like you say, a complete waste of your time.

hush child. That comment was to yahiko. not to you.

Mate, in the real world the plaintiff (in this case, you) has the burden of proof. Identify the 95% of that post that offends you and perhaps there will be a defence and a case. Otherwise, case dismissed. Lets party!
Yeah, and yahiko's comment was to snorkius, not you. What's your point?
War Eagle
If alltaken said something along the lines of "all americans deserve to die cause u all suck." I would be in full agreement with you. He said that his country is better to live in. I know lots of countries that I would rather live in. This I tell you from personal experiance.

What does 9/11 have to with anything? I was appalled by the comment alltaken made about laughing at the deaths of thousands of people. Tell me what is so ridiculous about his last comment.

Well, you understand him just fine is because you willingly suck on the same propaganda. Just because someone says something different, is stupid. Thats your notion. Well, all I can say is I pity you.
Whats wrong if other people like travelling and learning other cultures.
Just because you are too damn scared to leave your corner of the world after watching all those "factual" (LOL!) news pieces on fox.
I must say that I did make that post above to stir up a response, but I didn't think I'd get one so offensive.
And from two people....
Wow.
P.S. Of course you can't buy a country for a bit over it's GDP.
