I have a Linksys wireless Cable/DSL router, and 2 XP machines both with Linksys PCI wireless cards. Both machines can see the Router and connect to it fine. The problem exists when I try and connect from 1 machine to another; I get very long waits for it to browse the workgroup, and when I try and open the other machine, windows tells me it has gone.
I suspect the problem is with just the second machine, as I can ping anything fine from one, but from the other (a compaq deskpro), when I ping the first machine it returns a response with a resonable response time (3-8ms) most of the time, but frequently it returns 'Request timed out'.
I have checked all the authentication settings, I've turned off WEP and power saving, I've taken all the other settings to the recommended linksys settings, I installed SP1 and a number of updates, and I even tried rubbing the router with cheetah blood. Nothing worked.
