I've just finished Half Life2 for the second time and I still think
it's agreat game.
But as an alternative, what's the best RPG according to the members of
a.g.h-l
I'm developing an interest in DiabloII. Quite a contrast with
Half-Life 2

System Shock 2, RPG elements in a FPS.

It is something completely different bit I think it is one of the
greatest games I ever played. You can play it over and over, because
of 5 different charachters with different skills.
Graphics are great and gameplay addictive. I would say, go for it.
And BTW if you like it there is also an expansion pack, also great.

I'm glad you shared this info Peter, this game looks astonishing! :)
I read its Physics capabilities, but didn't see any mention as to
players being able to pick objs up like in HL2, could they?

Is it commercially available already?
Have you tried it?

Neverwinter Nights I'd imagine - there used to be a site called
AGHL-NWN.org but it seems to be gone now - I'm sure someone will
enlighten you though....

Divine Divinity is a better game than Diablo 2 IMO and is also on budget
now.

Delayed until May 2005
Will probably be pushed even further back?

I'm playing Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines right now. It's a great
rpg and it uses the same "Source" engine as HL2.
Different from Diablo 2 more like Deus Ex.

Diablo2 and it's expansion pack Lord of Destruction are great games. And
when you get done with them (heh, could be a while :)), try out World
of Warcraft, Blizzard's new online MMORPG. Been playing it for the past
couple of weeks, and I'm liking it even more than Dialbo2. Highly recom-
mended.

DD had a more developed story, but still riddled with the old RPG cliché's.
D2 is a good single player game, but the multiplayer made it for me (before
the cheats took over). Overall D2 wiped the floor with DD for me, as I
played D2 for about 18 months on and off, but DD got wiped off my HD after
about 2 months.

If you're playing diablo ii - add the expansion pack -
throne of baal. It is well worth it.

Indeed. The Platinum Pack (also known as the Deluxe Pack I understand) has
got the original plus the two expansions with it, for a good price.

STALKER sounds interesting, but it's incredibly ambitious. HL2 had things
cut from it because the designers realised that focusing on a few things was
better than going half-way with a lot more things. STALKER doesn't have the
financial resources that HL2 did, so I'm worried that the developers may
have bitten off more than they can chew.

Diablo II is and always will be a classic. I go back and play it through
once a year...

The hell you say :) Hundreds of thousands are already playing it on
over 80 servers, in the US. European release is due shortly. It hit store
shelves in November of '04.
