I am using EFS on Windows XP. When I copy or move the encrypted files
from the local drive to the network share or floppy drive, I get the
prompt sayings "The files cannot be copied or moved without losing
its encryption. You can choose to ignore this error and continue, or
cancel". Of course if I click Ignore or Ignore All, I can copy or move
the encrypted files to a non-encrypted drive or share.
My question is, is there any way to disable this prompt box while I
continue to use EFS.
We will enable EFS on our computers through login script. EFS will be
transparent to our users so they are hands free. However, we will NOT
enable EFS on our network shares. The concern would arise when the
users copy or move their encrypted files from the local drive to
network shares. The users may be confused when they see the prompted
message above.
Is there any way such as registry change to suppress the message
prompt?

The prompt is there to remind users that moving or copying files to a share
will decrypt the files. Without the prompt, users might be under the mistaken
assumption that the files are still encrypted on the share, when in fact
they are not.

thanks Steve. That is what I would like to hear too, so user awareness
is neccessary.
