Yep not one of those games are on my list. I'm waiting for Pool of Radiance and Dark Ages of Camelot. The only console game I'm curious about is Halo. If I had to pick one of those, it would be Castle Wolfenstein.
As a old fan of Wolfienstein, i have to vote for this, it might not have as good graphics as some other games but the game play will kick ass, i still play it time to time and still love it to death...
Hell yeah. I played Pool of Radiance on the Commodore 64 to death. Litterally... my disks died.
I never did technically beat it though. Only once did I play far enough to get my party to the end. But I did one of the missions out of order and the game kept wanting me to go do that, when I'd already done it a little while ago. So I could never win. It still rocked though. I love turn-based strategy games.
I also played some of Secret of the Silver Blades and SpellJammer. However, I didn't play as much of those games because I was playing them on a friend's computer. Heh heh.

I have to agree with you about Wolf3D. Heck, I still vaguely remember playing the Commodore 64 Wolfenstein games that Wolf3D was based on. It and Spear of Destiny were great games that revolutionized PC gaming. My favorite though was the Castle Barneystein patch for Wolf3D. Heh heh. It's always fun when you get to shoot up Barney.
(And it's frightening to think that ugly purple dino has been around annoying us all for THAT long.)

dhlucke, check out http://www.poolofradiance.com. That crazy pool is back. Only this time it's worse than ever and you play by D&D 3rd Edition rules. It's not just better graphics, it's a whole new game.
Also check out http://www.neverwinternights.com. It's another old favorite with new life breathed into it. Only this one should really raise the bar to a new level for online gaming. It'll put that Vampire game to shame in that respect.

I saw a preview of it in this month's "PC Gamer". It looks kind of bland. There weren't really intreging factors to it. Nevertheless, i'll still buy it =)
You think that's scary? My baby nephew loves Barney--and TeleTubbies. I try to change the channel (there's only so much of that stuff I can stand, by God), and he gets mad and gripes at me till I change it back! =(
Anyways, I'm not much of an FPS guy myself. I'm more of a Final Fantasy-style guy.

init: Just what do you think you're doing, Dave?
RPGs rock over FPSs. They make you think. They take actual time to play. They have an actual story line and plot. (Not just "kill everything".) Sometimes they even have cool cinematics. They just plain have depth.
I used to love the Final Fantasy games ... until Final Fantasy VIII came out. That was about the last straw for me. First of all, it wasn't even close to a fantasy setting anymore. Second, not only had it ditched all concept of classes/jobs like FF7, but it went even further to make characters totally worthless. (If you don't believe me, go through the whole game and never use a certain character. Then when you get near the end, put that never used character in and give them good GFs and link up their magic and watch their stats be just as good as any other character's, even though they're only level one and all of the other characters are far higher.) And FF8 had no cool chocobo stuff! (That's down right Final-Fantasy-sacrilege if you ask me.) And that love story has to be the most annoying I've seen yet! And it had some pretty obvious typos that just a single beta test would have weeded out. It was like the whole game was just based purely on the cinematics and not on the Final Fantasy genre.
After FF8 I just about gave up hope on Square. I'm hoping that their excuse was just something to do with being EA's next meal shook up their staff.
Then when FF9 came out, I started thinking maybe they weren't off their rockers anymore, because it was a good game again. Chocobos were back in style. It was a fantasy setting again. And individual characters actually mattered. Heck, classes were even back in effect. And the love story was actually enjoyable.
So now I'm willing to give Square a chance. But if they ever make another game like FF8, I'm going to seriously consider boycotting them for wasting my time. I mean honestly, FF7 was bad enough. FF8 was everything bad about FF7 and magnified three fold.
After all, I always have the Breath of Fire series to enjoy.
And if you haven't played it, I strongly suggest searching for that ancient game Wolf3D and the Barneystein patch for it. It'll probably be hard to find them since they're so old, but everything is on the internet ... somewhere. You just can't beat laying into Barney with a machine gun and watching his head explode. I miss that game.

Yes, I love the Final Fantasy Series as well. I hope they release it for the PC because I dont plan on buying a PS2 just for Final Fantasy. (I have considered it) They seriously slipped with FF8, I was quite a bit dissapointed with that game.
My fav was Final Fantasy3. Have you seen the previews for the movie?

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought that Square dropped the ball when they made FF8.
My favorite of all FFs is still FF1. Heh heh. Who gives a rat's as$(tail ... I say it was just a Japanese to English translation glitch)? I do!
As for the FF movie, I'm torn on that. On one hand, it looks like it's (almost) everything that I hated about FF8 turned into a movie. On the other hand, it's a kick-butt marvel of 3D rendering power and it's potential to be used to make movies that no longer need actual 'actors'. I still don't know if I'm going to want to see that movie or not.
