Hello,
Simple Question:
Which of these Sima products: the GoDVD (Model CT-2) or the Color Corrector
2 Pro Series (Model SCC-2) will enabled me to record macrovision protected
VHS tapes to my harddrive?
Some background ...
I have an ATI 9000.
My connection is VHS->ATI 9000->HARD DISK.
I want to record MPEG-2 onto the hard disk.
Some videos are protected by macrovision.
The resulting MPEG of the recording of the protected VHS consists of color
bar which occupies 95-98 percent of the screen.
I have read several dozen articles in the archives and at various web sites.
NOW I AM REALLY CONFUSED!

Bob,
A quick reply. Movies can have two levels of Macrovision: Macrovision 1
and/or Macrovision 2.
I don't remember the specific models, but the fancier Sima (around $100
about a year ago) takes care of both. Nevertheless, I bought the less
expensive Sima color corrector for $40 to see if it would do the trick
anyway (just taking out Macrovision 1) and I haven't had one video that it
didn't successfully do with a setup similar to yours (vcr to ati aiw).
