Realistic System Specs for Half Life 2 ??

I am running an older system:

Athlon 950
GeForce 3 Ti500
512Mb RAM

Is it possible to get HL2 running smooth enough to play on this system, with
quality settings down etc?

It will be playable, just be conservative on graphics settings. And
consider upgrading RAM to 1GB

Umm, yeah. And consider a faster CPU and GFX card too ... Oh, and turn
down some of those option things too...

Don't know if this will help. I've got a AMD 1900+, Geforce III (non Ti or
Mx), 512 RAM. The HAlf-Life2 demo works just fine with medium settings. I
was very impressed with how the game ran with my older computer. Your CPU
is not as fast as mine, but I think your video card is quite a bit faster
and may make up the difference. Try downloading the Demo first and trying
that. If it works well, the full game should as well. Have Fun!

It will work. I imagine you could squeeze it to get between 20-30fps if you
lowered the settings enough. It's gonna essentially look like Half-life 1
though.

Do you have a broadband connection? If so, install Steam and get ahold
of the HL2 Demo.. see how it runs, and whether you're satisfied with that.

if not, maybe see if a broadband friend can help you download the HL2
demo GCF files for Steam.
