Hello.

I'm interested in converting my video tape to CD or DVD format.

Best Buy has the ATI TV WONDER VE TV Tuner and Video Capture for PC on
sale for a reasonable price.

After doing a small amount of research, I found out this particular
card does not have S-VIDEO input. It does have composite input,
however.

A simple question: Do I need S-VIDEO input to hook up a VCR? The VCR
isn't even stereo...it has an RCA video out jack and an RCA audio out
jack.

I'm not even interested in the TV tuner options--I just want to
convert videotape to CD/DVD. So, will this card be acceptable?

Thank you.

Greets,

Looking at the back of my TV Wonder VE, it has a CATV (co-ax) in, a
composite in and an audio out. IIRC, the audio in goes in to your
sound cards line in.

I never tried video capture, for two reasons:

1. I got the card to be able to watch the news in my home office,
and...

2. The card was extremely "wonky" on my system. I futzed around with
it a couple of days and removed it. It has been sitting on a shelf
since.

There are, from what I understand, much better capture cards out
there.

Hope this helps in some small way.

if you get the tv wonder ve youl like it but down the road your gona start
wanting more out of it than it can do. then youl get a new tv card and end
up wasting the old one.

i have the tv wonder EV and its colecting dust now days.

also the tv2000 comes whit all the junk youl need to plug in your vcr
camcorder or whatever.
why not get a card that will do more and is a littel better for around the
same price?
