In short, as we expected, ATI takes the cake in the Source engine just as
NVIDIA does in Doom3.

What bothers me about this article though is that the idiot forgot to
disable Vsync before he benchmarked!!!

I guess it's good for ATI that Doom 3 turned out to be such a
disappointment! Half Life 2 is amazing (I've played the leaked pre-alpha so
I'm not guessing) and will be around long after everyone has lost interest
in Doom 3...

My god its gonna be practically unplayable for me at
1600x1200x32-4xAA+8xAF @ around 57FPS ;)

Wonder how my old 9700Pro would fair up in that benchmark.
(Ps I am no fanboi of either nvidia or ATI before the children start
flaming)

Since the recommended spec is a 2ghz CPU and Geforce 4 why not
benchmark with that spec PC - why are all reviews and benchmark
done with high end systems ?

because people are so concerned with numbers. if it was a perception-based
thing, EVERYONE would be happy.

benchmarking is for idiots.

Sure am glad I got the x800 pro. No great difference to that of the XT.

My sentiments exactly! I still get max fps in DOOM 3 12x10 HQ without
AA or AF. I bought an ATI because as one said, HL2 and mods will be
around long after people have forgotten about DOOM 3. I can't wait for
HL2 and CS: Source, GR2, etc. This card kicks ass and is very
overclockable.
