I'm trying to find an X800XT in stock at a reasonable price - has anyone
found any place that actually has them?

Conspiracy theory.......

Do you think they are restricting availability of X800's to give time for
stocks of the 9800's to sell. This would hold up the price on the lower spec
cards for longer.

No for the obvious reason.... ATI is losing a TON of sales to nvidia,
ppl who want anx800xt, can't get one, so they buy a 6800u. Also,
the x800 pro is better and cheaper than a 9800.

This site claims to have them in stock for the low price of $999. LOL

http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/si [...] &ad=pwatch

I'd email that place and ask them what's up. Something is obviously not
right there. Maybe you'll get lucky and they actually have them at a decent
price you can afford?

Hope this helps!!

Your not wrong. I had an X800XT on order. In fact I had 3 on order with
different vendors. Gave up and bought a 6800. I don't know how many people
have done the same. Countless numbers, I should imagine. Waiting a few
days or even weeks might have been OK. But to wait 3 months? Forget it.
