Its an iconic car, especially in the Japanese scene. Very good for racing and you can get mental HP out of them
Each to there own though. I have loved these cars since i was young so obviously i bought one as soon as i had the chance and could afford it. The nickname for this type of car is 'Godzilla' . If youe interested in cars look up the wiki pages on it and see for yourself mate

Whats special about this car??It's called 'Godzilla' because it decimated the Japanese racing circuit like a monster when it debuted ^_^
All the advantages of a RWD body style, but with AWD traction - rivaled only by Subaru and Mitsubishi's AWD offerings...and some super expensive European imports...=P
As an American, it's an extremely iconic car. It represents everything attractive about the tuner world. In 1989, Americans were cruising around the race track with 250-300BHP - the Skyline in Japan was rocking well over 300BHP with twin turbo and had superior launch and cornering. Since I can't buy a Skyline here in the U.S., I had to settle for a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. Not quite the same, but it sure feels good to take those corners 30-40MPH faster than whatever V8 I'm racing =D

I have huge respect for the skylines but I'd take a Pulsar GTI-R or a silvia over one. The Skylines fricken heavy cars, fast but heavy. I prefer the smaller nimble vehicles myself for the roads I play on and that's why I've got myself a 280z which is getting a SR20DET under the hood. Still the RB26DET is one of the greatest engines ever in my eyes. That along with the 2JZ, 327 Small block, BMW inline six (can't pick just one), 13B rotary, and the Ford 300 inline six because you just can't destroy those things.

they are amazing cars but if i was to buy one it would be the r32 (cheapest and best). but my problem is the cost. i could buy a 200sx (UK) or 180sx(other) for half the price. do some mods and it would still gave me that smile for a school boy at Xmas. i would not get one unless you have the money to run it and money to take it to tracks (to use the power.
ps if you are made out of money buy one!

Wombat I do agree that they are lighter but it's still a 3800lb car. My 280z is 1000lb lighter. I live near mountains so I use my cars on single lane curvy mountain roads where that weight is a serious disadvantage. Now if I lived near a race track a GTR or 300ZX would be parked in my garage as I type this. Also the VR38DETT is a good engine but a highly boosted RB26 just sounds so good. I'm with robin and would take an R32 over an R35. Plus the extra 70k you save can make that R32 crazy. Just think 800hp, veilside body kit, recaro race seats, and some Enkei race wheels. Yeah now I want a skyline.

True that, I just dont like the overall look of the R32, the rear just looks like puss (IMO) and I would prefer the RB 25 out of all engines, that's why I got a 33, Plus you can get a R35 with a body kit and lowered with a few extra tweaks for the 21k Mark in Australia, This is the R35 350 Gt BTW..
If I can get rid of my 33, I would head towards a r34 with alot of work done to it, or a 35. But the 35's are rare in manual, so I'm leaning more towards the 34 atm. That's my 2 Cents anyways.

I agree that the R32 is the ugliest of them. Why would you want an RB25 over a 26? Just curious I haven't really dealt with either of them myself and I'm pretty confident you have more experience with them as you own one. I gotta give you respect for wanting the manual. They may not be as quick anymore but rowing your own gears just adds so much to the driving experience.

The 26 is an older design engine, the block was designed in 1986 or something, doesn't go quite as good on fuel, and its almost square. I prefer the Rb 25 as it's long and you can stick them on an 9-3 scale (Sideways) in show cars and they look hawt! The design can be coloured very easily.. I have my engine (Above my coils - plastic) all gold.. and it was soo easy to do.. it looks like show car material.
If you dunk a Heavy Duty clutch in a manual it's like a rocket in a r33... they literally launch forward... I raced a 33 the same as mine a while back and it was auto.. kicked it's butt.
And in the wet OHH MY GOD! its heaven.... anything above 1.7 RPM is wheel spin.

Wow, go hard bud.
You said " black 94 gtr r34"
94 as in 1994?
R34's where not produced in 1994... that was the year of the R33.
A twin turbo (assuming your running a RB25 would be a bit to much on the old girl) I would go for a 2jz-gte engine - on a 3-9 clock station with the twins either side with the right block... that would look HAWT!!

I don't know about cheap parts and better performance for the buck for imports. I built a 500+ hp 454 that counting machining cost a little over 5300. That counts chrome valve covers, air filter housing, waterpump, and chrome braided coolant, fuel, and oil lines. Try rebuild any import engine of any displaced putting out that hp for that cost. Also the transmission cost me 800 to have rebuilt. Counting 600 for the driveshaft, 900 for a old caddy rear axle, 300 for 3.83 gears my friend was in a little over 6000 for the whole powertrain. There is no import of any displacement that you can get that power out of, with the drivetrain built for it, for anywhere near that price. Hell take a B18, rebuild it, put a B16 head on it and slap a big turbo on it for the 500hp and you'll be over 6000 just for the engine work. The nissan SR20 I'm rebuilding will have almost 2000 in to the transmision, clutch and flywheel all said and done to reliably handle 400hp. I think I'll be in over 7000 for the engine when I'm done for 400hp. Now of course I'm talking big displacement differences but still with everything I've seen imports usually end up being much more expensive when looking at performance per dollar. Of course this is in Canada and globally I'm sure things are much different.
