Hi,
In my computer I have three adapters, two wired and one wireless. (but I
only use one adapter at a time)
The wired adapter is connected to a 100Mbit switch and speed is as you would
expect.
(The switch is used by about 12 other computer/hubs/access points)
To the switch I have a belkin 54g access point, I use WPA-PSK / TKIP to
connect and everything works fine, just that the speed is slow. I am the
only one using the access point, so the speed from me to the access point
(54Mbit) should be faster than between the access point and the switch-rest
of the network (100Mbit/devided by active connections - which probably is
less than 54Mbit), correct?
One thing I come to think of why it is slow could be because the algorithm
(RC4) to encrypt/decrypt the information is slow (either the firmware on the
AP or my adapter drivers).
Now I thought WPA2 would demand hardware upgrade and that the
encryption/decryption would be done in the hardware, but I was reading about
it at wi-fi.org and now I'm not so sure.
or is there some other factor I have missed to consider?
