OK, I know this isn't the CPU forum, but you guys here know more. I have an Athlon XP 2400+ on the older nForce2 Motherboard (Asus). Whenever I boot now it says that system failed due to CPU overclocking. I have it at the default settings (15*133). I did some cable management of the guts and dusted it with a paintbrush at work, but I didn't remove any of the hardware. Any thoughts? One thing I noticed, my 3 volt was reading 3.42. I thought it was 3.3, so that would be normal, but the BIOS said 3V I believe. Any thoughts would be wonderful. I got it to boot by telling the BIOS not to halt on any errors, but I don't want to fry anything. Thanks!!
Asus uses 3.4v on the 3.3v line, I have no idea why your BIOS calls it a 3v line. The CPU overclocking error usually has nothing to do with the CPU, it's a generic message that simply means the system failed to boot on the last attempt.

I believe the proper voltage is either 1.65 or 1.70v for that CPU at stock settings.

LMAO! OK d00d, you can certainly TRY it! I get a kick out of these guys that say "I don't need no freaking floppy".

HEY! Most of the time I don't... I have a floppy in my server that is shared (well, it will be once my server is up and running again). I use a floppy maybe 2-3 times per year total, and I have 6 computers in the house, so I decided to stop putting floppies in all of my PC's. if I really need a floppy for something like this, I have an extra one that I can hook up temporarily. Unfortunately I am not at home at the moment. I am at a friends house and we were going to do some gaming. Imagine my dismay when my PC didn't want to boot...
Right, I'm not using a floppy often but keep one installed just for such reasons.

Yes, but those programs are actually known to be riskier. Imagine if it erases your old BIOS, and just before flashing the new one you get a BSOD

Hey, it worked this time, and that is all that I care about. =o) Besides, I don't flash my BIOS just because there is a new one... I only flash it if I really need to... Anyway, it seems to be booting fine. Thanks Crashman!!
