Hi,

I have a PB 2950 that I am trying to refurb for a family that has no
computer. This computer has 8 meg of built-in memory. I am trying to
add memory so I can install Win 98. It has 4 memory slots, but the
second slot is the only one that seems to work. My memory chips (72
pin) test good. Why do the chips not work in the other slots?

1) There could be an actual hardware problem in the motherboard...

2) The motherboard may only take memory in certain configurations
(i.e. only specific amounts of memory in specific slots). That was
more of an issue with older boards though... Sometimes you have to
upgrade in specific increments. Can you get some doc on the board that
explains it's max memory, memory per slot, and combinations of memory
(onboard and in the memory slots).

I used to have and old Digital PC that needed specific memory in each
slot, and some combinations wouldn't work (for 8MB you needed 4MB in
slots 1 and 2, for example)...

RSVP with the BIOS signature displayed by the motherboard. Some of the older
motherboards will not accept EDO memory... Ben Myers
