In light of a current RAP thread, I would like to know what people on this forum listen to.
I like all sorts of music except POP/hiphop etc. and I prefer rock/classical.
Some of my favorite bands:
Nightwish
Pink FLoyd
Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Sonata Arctica
Vangelis
Rainbow
Stratovarious
Queen -Lots more that I can't name at the moment + Russian bands that none here would know.

The farce is ended; draw the curtain </font color=blue>
I listen to a whole lot of things. I'm not a very discriminative person. So pretty much alltypes of music get their chance in my ipod.
Stuff I listen to:
* Generally R&B & some raggae. HATE ashanti. What the hell was all the fuss about with her! Blackstreet, envogue, TLC, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Fugees
* Some hip-hop. I hate most of the "I got tons'o bling-bling, and a buncha hoes in my bentley" type lyrics.
But I do listen to a lot of hip hop. Dre and eminem get a lot of space. Tupac gets quite a bit of space in my pod. Ludacris. I like outcast, they're funny. Don't much like the 50cent album.
* Some soul. Gotta love Alicia Keys. Some nina simone songs.
* A bit of pop. Mariah Carey RULES! don't you dare diss her! I got most of her albums. I actually baught them!
Corrs, Dina Carrol, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Alizee
* Classical (pop) stuff: Bond, Vanessa Mae. I like Myleene Klass's version of Toccata. Might get that album.
* Rock: Bryan Adams, Evanescence, Meat Loaf. I like some guitar stuff, got a couple of songs from guns and roses and led zeplin.
I think that is it.

Mostly anything but rap or hip hop or soft rock, and I am not too fond of country, but my wife is slowly getting it to grow on me. But my choices:
Metallica
Smashing Pumpkins
Doors
Zeppelin
Beastie boys
Anthrax
System of a Down
Godsmack
Dave Matthews Band
Pearl Jam
Primus
GnR
Korn
Marilyn Manson
NIN
Nirvana
Alice in Chains
Megadeth
AC/DC
Van Halen
RHCP
STP
etc
etc
etc
A bit of pop. Mariah Carey RULES! don't you dare diss her! I got most of her albums. I actually baught them!
OH MY GOD. Pray the day Wingding and others don't spot this. Just....pray....

Marilyn Manson's new work is awesome. I love This is the new Sh*t!
He definitely plays the nice different gloomy instruments well.
For me:
-Avril Lavigne above all, one of the two CDs I ever bought from a deserving artist
-Some Eminem
-Evanescence
-Occasional Pink
-Jane's Addiction, just turned a fan of their music and also the only other album I ever bought (the new one).
-Sum 41
-Xtina Aguilera, but only some of the new work really. Fighter is a good rock song from her.
-Some pop from Beyonce
-A little Sean Paul
-A little of the underrated Silverchair
-Some White Stripes songs, Seven Nation Army rules!
I got much more but it depends on what's out on TV.

Wingding better not put something like 'my fovorite music are the screams of lusty young asians as my throbbing, diseased man-meat rips apart their anus. '

oh, btw, Bach -"Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" is one of my favorite pieces of music. I love good organ music, epspecially if it's live on a good organ.

Bond's a very cool group for remixing instrumental music. Very very nice.

Check out the song Victory by them. I think it's an old symphony, remixed. Nice and was on the Raimond Weil watch ads on TV.

Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
QOTSA
The Butthole Surfers
Black Flag/Henry Rollins

Run DMC
Public Enemy
Ice Cube
Beastie Boys

Bad Religion
Rage Against The Machine (early stuff)
Radiohead

Faith No More (Mike Patton/Jim Martin era)
Soundgarden (Seattle's finest IMO)
Helmet
Badly Drawn Boy
Red Hot Chilli Peppers (Frusciante period)
The Prodigy

Slayer (Lombardo era)
And many many more. Those are just the ones of the top of my head.
<font color=blue>"I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered" - George Best</font color=blue>
I heard another one like that from some other radio show as well I think. IIRC it was about booking a hotel room or something.

Go with the flow's a very nice song from QOTSA. The video is very sexual and awesome too. To think, the whole idea of two trucks crashing is to make an analogy of penetration and sperm.

You should really listen to some Nightwish. It's a very melodic metal band with a lead opera singer. I found out about them ~3 months ago and now have all the albums.

My favorite music consists of Tantric, they are absolutely perfect IMO. And music similar to Tantric (Live, Breaking Benjamin). Also, a phenomenal swedish band In Flames, and I like the guitar sounds of Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society.
Thats about it for me these days.. mostly rock to hard rock.
In high school/junior high I listened to Marilyn Manson, Type o negative, fear factory, nine inch nails, coal chamber, rammstein, ozzy and alot of alice in chains/guns n roses due to my older brothers influence.
AIC/GNR are oldies to me Though I have seen Guns n roses in concert, awesome..
Before junior high I listened to rap, before I was introduced to alice in chains in the early 90s.
I've been listening to johnny cash ever since he died in addition to the bands listed in my first paragraph.
Its different but good.

my music taste varies, but is mostly rock and roll, country, the newer country mostly, though some of the old stuff is good too, classical, instrumentals, and a lot of soundtracks, especially some of the star trek and starwars and most of the 007 bond soundtracks, then there is yanni and barry manilow(yes i said it!) yanni's tribute album is my favorite, some very good music, also have joe satriani's flying in a blue dream cd, he plays a mean guitar, but really cant sing worth a hoot, but 90% of the cd is instrumental. toby keith and charlie daniels and aaron tippin are great! some real kicka$$ country there....then you have dire straits, a good little tune called heavy fuel fits well into my tastes as i am an ase certified master auto tech! well enough rambling, i could go on for hours! but i wont bore ya'll with my eccentric tastes
Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no way to go through life Son.
I've only heard 2 songs but they are damn nice. He manages to stay updated in culture yet keeps a classic grim feel to his style. I don't know what's the fuss about him being a poser to the black or death metal community. I never even tried to classify his music anywhere. I think he's got his own style and shouldn't be compared.

I think its good stuff. I have and enjoy all of his material.. the new one on release got constant play in my cd player. He really is pretty witty. The cool thing about him is that his albums have a overall concept to them.
Antichrist superstar was just that, a great album centered around that theme. Mechanical Animals was centered around drug use and modern dependency on drugs. And so on.
As far as the poser claims, I find most people who get into one genre of music to much get WAY to wrapped up in it. They analyze a scene and if one guy gets "too popular" hes a sellout.
I think people with no lives and little kids follow that mentality. I just try to enjoy all music..its actually pretty hard to write a gloomy arse tune like Manson's and get it on MTV and the radio!
The people who say someones a sellout are trying to say that the band betrayed their roots (most of the time thats a metal band/crowd).
I dont think he'd be death metal or black metal, he changes on every album.. he very loosely could be called rock. Hes gone from standard rock to industrial rock, to metal to near glam and back to a more industrial sound (which I prefer). Shock rock is what many call him but I think he's more than just being able to write him off as simple shock.
If you like his sound you might like the band Orgy. They lean more towards industrial. The new manson sound has alot to do with Tim Skold coming from the german industrial band KMFDM (who rock also).
Some songs to check out from kmfdm and orgy.
KMFDM- Juke Joint Jezebel, Anarchy
Orgy- Blue Monday, Stitches, Opticon

It's pretty much like those Trekkie freaks, ya know, the sci-fi extremists where they judge by the color of the metal used on a robot technology!
If Star Wars gets too mainstream they whine, if a movie tries some high-tech stuff, they whine. It's mostly Comic Book Guy from Simpsons attitude.
I too make sure to get an all-arounder in the music genre. I never had one I liked most. Avril plays different rock styles, from heavy to simple light. Jane's has occasional punk style to whacky. I like some R&B sometimes, (Beyonce definitely had some catch to her Crazy in Love song) some rap. I'm not much into real heart punk rock, as it's just often same-tone singing (monotonous punk voices) and often just anti-Bush stuff. I'm more for pop-punk like Sum 41 does sometimes, or some occasional Simple Plan (don't care one bit about the stupid comments like they're posers etc.).
Compared to my brother who switched from Japanese music, to later German, to death and black metal, to now blues and classic rock, I never switch, because I never had a style in the first place. It's hard to identify to one music genre for me, as I am diverse. It's a core element of myself. Even my style in writing changes over time here.

Perfect. LOL
I have the latest Sum41 I liked that cd.
I am not as diverse, occasionally I'll play something that brings back memorys like Shaq's terrible rap or that cheesey vanilla ice song but thats about it.
I'm pretty much rock through and through, but every kind of rock imaginable.. basically anything with guitar in it (country, metal, industrial).
I'm a guitar freak I just sit here and will play acoustic on my guitar for hours.. can't beat a simple ballad on the age old 6 stringer.
I like to play classical guitar (though I'm not very good) I think its awesome stuff.
Gotta be diverse man, even if its only for a while like myself so you know whats out there.
If you ever do find a particular genre that you prefer start fretting.. it makes finding what you will then consider "good stuff" harder to find!
I cant find many CDs I enjoy as my Tantric cd even after years of listening to it, besides write my own but I suck at that .

Hey Kinney I noticed your album page has one of the two pics only. Did you request to have the grad photo removed? If not, tell me so I can get Scammy to correct the error.
Oh and if you ever got new stuff to show, just send us the pics or info.
