I have 2 laptops with wireless-g built in. Both are running XP Home and both also have Norton Internet Security (which I have temporarily disabled). I have followed the Network Setup Wizzard but neither computer can see the other. When veiwing the workgroup, each computer either shows itself, or says that "the network is not available - consult the administrator". I have also tried to connect them together uson a 10/100 crossover cable but the result is the same.
I wish to share files printer and internet connection(56K dial-up). Can anyone help.

Moose,
Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
With NIS, you may need to configure them for file sharing, by opening ports TCP
139, 445 and UDP 137, 138, 445, and / or by identifying the other computers as
present in the Local (Trusted) zone. Firewall configurations are a very common
cause of (network) browser, and file sharing, problems. NIS has been reported
to not disable properly - one person even reported having to un install NIS AND
NAV before file sharing worked. But you should be able to get it working by
configuring it.
Cheers,
Chuck

<SNIP IPConfig data>
Moose / Sherlock,
That's an impressive array of network devices on each laptop. Including a
bridge on each, no less.
How are you intending to access the internet? Thru a router, or thru one of the
laptops with a modem?
Please start by removing the bridge on each. Unless there's an intentional need
for each bridge? Then rerun, and repost, ipconfig for both.
And please don't contribute to the spread and success of email address mining
viruses. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself a bit
safer when posting to open forums. Protect yourself and the rest of the
internet - never post your address unmunged.
