I am running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition (after finally breaking down and
ordering the CD) on an HP Pavilion 511w. When I bring up the Security Center
screen it indicates that Automatic Updates is not configured for my computer.
When I click on the Turn On Automatic Updates button it tells me the
Security Center can't change my Automatic Update settings and I will have to
do it manually. When I go to check the settings for Automatic Updates, it
indicates Automatic Updates are "on", but I've not been getting any updates.
(I recently had to do a complete system restore and lost a previous
installation of SP2. I also evidently lost the capability to get on-line
technical assistance from Hewlett Packard. Every time I try to connect with
them I get an error message that I must connect to the internet in order to
send a question, even though I'm already connected to the internet!!) Are
these problems possibly related? Help!!
