OK... what is it? Does it mean you can play CS: Source against Bots?
If so I may be tempted to try it (currently put off by the 14yr olds
mentioned here so many times).

(I'll be trying the 'Substance' mod and patch pointed out by CF first
tho')...

Pretty much, yes - Did you ever play the CZ bots? (or the Steam
beta/CS1.6 beta bots) .. The bots are by the same guy (Mike Booth of
turtle rock studios).. The CZ bots were excellent, so hopefully these
CS:S bots will follow suit :)

It may be possible to give them names. If that is the case then a AGHL
vrs Bears Bash would be most amusing as teamplay would conquor.

Have the "bots" appeared yet? It is supposed to be today isn't it?
Will a new game icon appear or will the bots just slip in quietly through
the backdoor and be available in game or something like that?

Anyone know??

The message on the News page says today but when I restarted Steam
this morning, a different message showed up and said it would be
released sometime this week.

Don't be fooled, those pesky bots are already in your machine - they're sitting there right now,
somewhere between your CPU and your RAM, drinking coffee, toasting marshmallows on your heatsink,
and planning how they're going to pwn you!

I am happy as by toasting marshmallow on my heat sink, they help dissipating the heat in my system...
