accessing password protected folders

Last Saturday night I turned off my computer as I normally do. In the
morning when I went to turn the computer on, nothing happened. It kept
going through an endless loop of starting and restarting. I tried using the
HP provided System Restore CDs, trying to use the Last Known Configuration,
Safe Mode in all its various forms (Networking, Command prompt, etc) and
nothing. As it turns out, luckily, I had done a backup of all my data
files 5 days earlier on a CD so it was not a major problem. I was just
about to reformat my harddrive, when my wife informed me that she had put in
about 5 hours worth of work into a Word document after I had done the backup
CD. A major problem. I took out the harddrive and connected it to my
in-laws computer but the Word document I need to access is password
protected in the folder "Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\01data".
Initially I could not even see the "Owner" folder, however with the help of
a friend I have used the "cacls" command in DOS to gain access to the
"Owner\My Documents" folder but can't get into the "01data" folder.
I have the password for the Owner folder but I don't know how to get the
system to ask me for it. I just need one file and then I can reformat the
whole harddrive. Can anyone tell me a way to gain access to the "01data"
folder or even get the system to prompt me for the password. I will access
the harddrive as a slave harddrive in my father-in-laws computer.
Thanks.

You can try taking ownership of the files. Take a look here for
the procedure:
