It just started. I can connect to few websites from my notebook... most of
the websites dont open. Not only web... I can connect to my usenet server
but I just cant download anything. When I connect directly (not with
wireless) verything is OK. I also tried 1394 connection which also worked
well. So what is the problem? Why most internet sites wont open when
connected wirelessly? I can see my network, I can navigate through the files
and folders of my desktop, I can connect to the internet... but most sites
say connected but the pages wont open. Any idea? This drives me crazy.

Hi there Tugrul,

If you happen to use a wireless router, then consider reducing the MTU size
to 1400.

Thanx for the reply, but no.. I am not using a router.. it is a peer to peer
connection... and I had no problems b4. If none of the web pages would open
I would say there was a problem with ICS, but some do open. As I said b4
with firewire connection or through ethernet port I have no problems, when I
switch to wireless problems begin. I really find this weird.

After reading your message and answering back, I recalled that I had
optimized my network through TweakNow PP which had increased the MTU size to
1480... I changed this option to use network interface's default value and
now everything returned to normal. Still I dont understand why it had an
effect on wireless connection but not on firewire connection.

Anyway thanx for the tip.

ICS blocks certain ports of the computer as it acts like a Natting device,
for e.g router. Therefore, check out the below site for more information:

Hi Turgrul!

Just read about how did you go about resolving your problem. My Q is that: How did you see that the MTU size was increased after installing the TweakNow PP software/application? I run a number of instances where i can't fix this problem because @ times you go to the site and un aware something installs it's self and it ends changing some of you the machines settings. Please your help will be highly appreciated on how do you check the MTU size (I would like to say on XP, 2000 & '98)

Thanks in advanced.

Sorry, was away for some days... didnt see your post. You can use any kinds
of proggies such as w,nxp manager, tweaknow pp or cablenut to see the mtu
size.
