I am also looking -- more -- for another computer-- the EZ-TabletPC,
world's smallest TabletPc, which has 4in1 card reader internal but not for
above cards (www.ecs.com.tw to products to EZ tablet); but I thought you
folk
would be able to answer above q.
Many thanks.

First of all what kind of PDA do you have?
Some PDAs allow to use an Expansion Pack with PCMCIA slot, and some already
have such slot built in.

Jakub,
No expansion pack on back, unless it is one held on by Velcro or the like.
But there is certainly NO built-in slot for either a Pcmcia or a CF card.

The larger handheld has a 4in1 slot for SD, mcc-- all cards smaller than the
above cards; but there are 2 USB ports. One is USB2.
Hope this helps.

Say the PDA has only a standard serial port at the bottom.
Thanks,
Joe

I think his question was more like "What brand and models are you talking
about". For example, on my IPAQ 3835 unit, you can purchase "sleeves" that
the PDA slides into. It connects to the port on the bottom of the unit.
Some of the sleeves provide PCMCIA slots, some provide CF slots (that's the
one I have), some provide battery as well as expansion slots like that.
Take a look here: http://www.pitech.com/hardware/Memplug.htm. However, as
far as I know, these expansion sleeve are specific to particular brands and
models, as the hardware connectors are probably proprietary.

The two folk responding have tried to help but missed the mark: my fault.
I NEED AN EXTERNAL PCMCIA (PC CARD) CARDREADER FROM WHICH I CAN RUN A USB
CABLE TO A COOL COMPUTER'S USB PORT.

When I asked for an external Pcmcia cardreader in this topic-listing, the
other computer, I should have mentioned what I in mind,
is a new special Tablet PC (having no inbuilt Pcmcia-Cf slots -- too
primitive for
Asians): the EZ-Tablet, made by www.ecs.com.tw (ECS, largest motherboard
maker in world -- go to product, then EZ-Tablet). This the smallest-screen T
PC (8.4" ) and the cheapest ($999 -- from www.hughbee.com, its American
distributor, comes closest to a Tablet PC handheld, like the WinCE 8.9" Nec
MobilePro (full kyboard).
But it has only a 4in1 card port for newer cards (SD,mmc, etc). No Pcmcia,
CF!!! slot . No sleeves can be added! Maybe a metal shop can do, but i'd
stillneed a cable.

1So I would need an external card reader I could velcro (use velco strips)
to its back and
cable to one of its 2 Usb ports.
Need to know this cardreader can be found bfr I buy.
2Can any card reader that says it runs on XP b trusted to run on XP Tablet
OS? [I found that Yes is the answer.]

2a Into an external Pcmcia (same as PC card?) cardreadr , maybe a special
sleeve is inserted to read CFers, yes? where
get?]
3 Cost?
4 Deals?
5 What to look for and to look out for?

These EZ-Tablets (convertible or slate) are 2.6lbs, 800mhz,TM proc, 20-80
Gb, 256-512mb storage, 2-5 batteries (one is long-life), seem sturdy ( I
tested on for about 2 weeks), ECS is the biggest maker of motherboards in
World , could be carried in a waist or fanny pack or in cargo pants [ could
use a onehanded keyboard, like a FrogPad or a Twiddler with Slate]. Have
full XP as well as Tablet XP OS. Start up in 5+ seconds. I found that if
I keep my favorites in the start menu and hibernate the computer all day,
when I open a favorite app, it opens in 1+ second. 15 mo guarantee. $999
cheaper if u buy from Taiwan.
