Looked around but have not been able to find anyone with this problem.

Just setup a new AP (3com 3CRWE454A72) and am using WPA, 802.1x, IAS
(RADIUS) on Windows Server 2003. Clients are Windows XP SP1a.

It all works great - I thought it would be much hard. My RADIUS policy
allows users and computers access to the network so the computer
account can access the network prior to user logon.

But the problem is roaming profiles do not load now - why? Because the
network drops out when the WPA changes from the computer account to
the user account. Even is I disable the computer account from the
RADIUS policy the network connection does not enable fast enough for
any profile to load or script to run.

How do I make Windows wait until the the network connection (user) is
established? It takes around 15 seconds i think (at a guess).

Cheers

I spent $300.00 to Microsoft to work a case to find the solution to
this problem. In the end my money was refunded. If you have any
intention of contacting Microsoft regarding this issue I would be happy
to provide you with my case ID for reference.

The long and short is this. Roaming profiles over wireless using
Windows XP RTM or SP1 and 802.1x in any configuration does not work and
will never work. The issue is resolved in Windows XP SP2. Upgrade to SP2
and everything should be cool. It's working flawlessly for me. If you
are having problems with Roaming Profiles with XP SP2 over wireless
with 802.1x, WPA, or WPA2 let me know and I can probably help you out.

KB 837172, heh? They say a hotfix is available, but going to SP2 is much
better idea anyway.

But why this didn't work before? Did they consider wireless too slow and
unreliable for roaming? (makes perfect sense)
If yes, what made them to change their mind? 54 mbps is beter than 11,
but still not quite enough.
