I have a XP pro laptop with SPk2 on it. This machine has data that must be
shared between 2 windows 98 machines. I shared the folder on XP. I gave
Testman (Local-user) full controll of the folde, then i gave him full
controll of the C drive.
If i use \\ppc\folder, it asks for a password. I enter the users password
and it says incorrect from the Win98 machind. Chen I use \\pc It asks for the
IPC$ password.
What must I do to use the files off the XP machine, besides upgrade my two
OS's?
Thanks for the help/

You must logon to the Win98 PC using the same logon name and password as created on the
WinXP PC.

So if you created an account "Testman" on the WinXP with a given password you must logon to
the Win98 PC as 'Testman' with the same password.

If you are on a home network it is most likely a Workgroup, not a Domain. For a Domain you
need NT or AD Server platform.

Under a Workgroup, the workgroup names of of machince can be different. However, the
Workgroups show up separately when Browsing the network. It just makes it easier to have
all workstations on a LAN to use the same Workgroup name.
