Has anyone here tried one for gaming yet? So far there's the Hyundai L90D+
which is touted as having an 8ms response time, though there may be others
around.

It's about time I replaced my ageing Dell 19in CRT, but I'm wary of spending
nearly £400, even though that's cheap for a decent LCD.

I have a 17" NEC with 16 ms response time, and it's analog VGA only
too... there is NO 'shadowing' problem with this one at all. It's 2
years old now. I also have a 19" EnVision LCD with 25ms response time,
dual inputs, and there IS shadowing. Using the DVI imput helps, but
doesn't eliminate it. This one is a year old.

I do wonder if the response time is all there is to shadowing. Obviously
it's the major factor, but are there others? I'm not a hardcore gamer, but I
do like to play now and again. It's been years since I looked into LCDs - I
think I might pop down to PC World (sans chequebook!) to have a browse this
afternoon.

Please please please dont buy from PC World (including Currys, Dixons - all
part of The Dixons Group). They're the worst place to buy anything from. I
recommend a place called MicroDirect (www.microdirect.co.uk), also
OverClockers (www.overclockers.co.uk).

Anyone know of any good 19" LCD screens suitable for gaming that include a
DVI connector? Nearly all of the screens people on usenet, forums etc seem
to recommend come without a DVI connector.

I just got before Christmas the 19" Viewsionic VX912. 12ms and DVI and has
given great results over the last month. Mainly used for games as well.

CRTs still give better pictures (color and contrast) but a lot of people
like the space saving, reduced flicker and crisper text. YMMV.

My old flat screen monitor weighed a ton, slowly evolved to green and rotted
my brain.
My new Sony 19" LCD cost a fortune, looks and works great, and could be used
as a headlight for the car if need be.

Seriously, black and *very* dark stuff looks a bit weird, but every other
color looks awesome.
When you say better color, I assume you mean more accurate?

More accurate, and CRTs can show some colors that LCDs physically cannot
("color gamut"). Apparently :)
