Get one of th elogitech webcams- they are inexpensive, and pretty good (considering this a webcam).

If you don't mind a little higher price, the Logitech Quickcam Traveller is a good choice as it allows you to use it as a basic digital camera away from the computer as well.

If you want something mroe versatile, try a video capture cam. They're basicaly digital cameras with webcam functions, so you can use them to take photos too (although not as good as dedicated digicams). Wireless is a good choice if you use a laptop. Here's a useful guide you can visit. :)
