Problems with Fuji xD cards and Dazzle xD readers

I have a Fuji s7000 with 512MB Fuji xD card, a laptop and a desktop PC.

To read the card into the laptop I use a Fuji FinePix PCMCIA xD/SmartMedia
card reader - it all works a dream.

To read the card into the desktop I bought a Dazzle xD/SmartMedia card
reader expecting it would do the same - but it didn't.

Going back to the shop I find none of their xD readers will read my Fuji xD
card (though since they're all Dazzle in different formats, maybe it's not
much of a comparison.) They will all read my SmartMedia cards, and my xD
card still works in my camera and my PCMCIA device.

I'm starting to think there's an incompatibility between Fuji xD cards and
Dazzle readers...or possibly something odd about Fuji's xD cards that
requires a Fuji device to read them. Or perhaps it's just that the 512MB is
too big for the Dazzle reader...but it doesn't say so on the box.

Can anyone explain?
Can anyone suggest what I should buy so I can read my Fuji xD card into my
desktop?
