anybody got the step by step for using my pocket PC (XDA II) as an alarm
clock ?
I read a thread online to get a prog called "wakeup tweak" ... is this the
only way to do it so the ppc wakes up to sound the alarms ? but this makes
my ppc go on and off every darn minute and its just annoying... is there
another way to get it to work like a decent alarm clock ?

Anyone with clues with the registry settings for this ? Is it just
HKLM\System\CurrentCOntrolSet\Control\Power ?

What should all my default values be for it to stay off when i turn my ppc
off ?

Any help would be trully appreciated...

You see, this is one of the problems that gave me a huge culture shock
when switching from palm to PPC. I can't imagine a palm user having to
ask this question; palmos is just sooooooooo intuitive and so
*reliable*; it works the way it should be.

Now, regarding PPC, i wouldn't use those calendar appointments and
their reminders, i would use "alarms". In PPC there is a difference.
You'll find the alarms on the today screen at the top.

Where? I don't see it.

You can either tap the date at the top of the today screen and then
select alarms or you can open the "clock" icon in start/settings/system

The cautionary post probably refers to the fact that if you have the ppc
sound volume low or off, the alarm volume may be inaudible.

the icon looks like a clock. if you don't find it on your today screen
go to settings, system, clock and choose alarms.
from there set up an alarm, find a way to make it repeating
(third-party app) and connect your ipaq to a 20w exernal speaker with
active amplifier through the headphone jack and you'll have an alarm
clock setup like mine

good luck

Alarms should be repeating. You may need to select which days you'd like to
alarm to go off (note the SMTWTFS series of boxes near the alarm). If
you're having problems with alarms not continuing to go off on the days of
the week you've selected, please provide more details so we can investigate
the issue on our side.

Thanks for the feedback.. im using the XDA II pocket pc itself. On my alarm
setting there is an option to repeat sound yet it doesnt actually do that,
it just plays the alarm sound once.. not really good when tryin to wake up
in unearthly hours to catch a flight...

Will the alarm ring itself even though the pda is switched off ?

So the postings online about alarms not triggering are just about the
appointment/reminders ? Therefore i dont need a 3rd party app like wakeup
tweak installed if im just interested in using normal alarms ? if this is
the case how do i go about setting it back to the orig settings ? cause my
phone now tends to wake up every couple of minutes or so.. its killing my
battery..

Thanks in advanced...

I regularly (daily) use my iPaq 5550 as an alarm clock. It was hit and miss
until I installed the Wakeup Tweak. I can now use it reliably to wake me up.
Prior to installing this I had to keep the PDA plugged into AC power for it
to be reliable.

fwiw, on a hunch, I just ran a test with Jonathan Sach's Stoptime as I
had previously noticed that it offers a volume setting when setting up
alarms.

I set the alarm at max volume, then set the alarm time, then used the
windows sound icon to "turn off" the device's sound and powered down the
device.

The alarm went off at the expected time.

And is it possible setup my PPC (iPAQ 2210) to wake me up with my best MP3
file, with the headphone jack connecting to an amplifier?

It is possible if you use a third party app like AlarmToday
(www.pocketmax.net).

Mike,

I did not have to change any of the default settings that Wakeup Tweak
initially installs with.

I am set at 60s for both battery and AC power. I am not set to wake up to
full power. I have not had a problem with it turning itself on and off.

Have you installed any other programs in an attempt to correct the alarm
problem that could be conflicting?

Craig

Mike,

One more thing. I do have installed the Check Notifications program from
ScaryBear Software. It's freeware. I run it about once a week. I find that
it clears the duplicate events better than Wakeup Tweak does.

If you don't have it you can find it here:
http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html

Ah, so it's the alarm sound that isn't repeating, not that the alarm itself
doesn't go off every week. I'll have someone on our side investigate what's
going on...

didnt have anything else installed apart from it..
have alarmtoday installed now with wakeup tweak.. alarmtoday has a tweak for
the wakeup also but im not using it.. just using it solely to REPEAT an
alarm sound which i tought the pocket pc could do by itself..

alarms seem to be triggering off corectly now .. but i still find it
annoying that my pda keeps swictchin itself on and off every couple of
minutes or so.. odd part is i dont even have that setting on wakeup tweak to
full wake system up checked.. so why is it behaving this way ????
