I am fairly new to XP Pro security and have been trying things on a new
system. I have one limited account and my account is Administrator. Now
when I use Ineternet Explorer and select internet options on the tools menu,
it says that it is restricted and the see an administrator. I am not sure
how to set this back to default settings. Thanks for any help on this.

Did you disable the ability to access IE's tools/options in gpedit.msc? (Or
another tweaking application perhaps?)

After installing xp and getting the system up and running with
most of my programs reinstalled, I was having a restriction problem, so
I called Microsoft and followed their instructions ( using snap-ins and
databases and such) which I should have written down but didn't. It
seemed to fix the problem I was having at the time. I was pretty good
with 98se but never ntfs or permissions and am trying to figure them out
by reading and looking mostly. My account is Admin account and I can
right-click on the desktop icon and go to properties with no problem.
It only says that when I open IE and try to do it. Strange! I think
that is the only strange behavior that I've noticed so far. I have not
changed much but could have by accident.
I looked in gpedit.msc and found the setting but it was not
configured so I disabled it and then changed it back to not configured.
This did the trick. Thanks so much for the help. I better not changed
anything until I get a much better understanding of permissions. I
really appreciate your help. Thanks so much!

Not a problem and glad to have helped. While I agree that in a production
type environment it's not good to play with buttons until you've read the
manual or understand everything there's some satisfaction to be gained in
learning and breaking on your own I've found.
