Sort of. It doesn't with anything you get with it. There also isn't a
special setting for that as you have discovered. You can buy third party
sync & charge cables for it. As the battery capacity gets better, they also
tend to expect a little more charging current than the standard USB port can
deliver. There are some third party products that provide a sync or charge
cable, with a switch, as there are reports that syncing is affected by
excessive current draw when charging a low battery PPC.

is that a general thing? it was mentioned a few days ago that the 5555 (i
think) did have usb charging - i assumed that was for all ipaqs...

Certainly not for all. I know the 5555 has a control panel option that
deals with USB charging. Neither my 4155, nor my 2215 do. I had not heard of
any other PPCs having such an option in the control panel, but I certainly
don't own one of each.
