An NVidia 6600GT AGP? **grol ducks** Man, I am fed
up with ATI drivers and software. The hardware is
sweet though.

The 128Mb 9800 Pro is probably the best bang for the buck. The 6600GT is
another contender. If you have 17" or 19" LCD it's the better choice, since
it performs better at the default 1280x1024 resolution.

For AGP? Probably the 9800 Pro. If the X800 XL came out in AGP, I'd
recommend it, but with the R520 rumored to come out this summer, I don't
know if an AGP X800 XL card will happen.

The sad part is the card was listed for $289. They have raised the price
$30.

Wow! I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I went to that link! It's the
built-by-ATI card as well. Too bad about the price though, as you say.

It is difficult to judge depending on where your from. For instance, I can
now buy a 6600GT for less than a 9800pro. I happen to have a 9800pro which
I am more than happy with and not changing this year but just look around.
For a gfx card these days I would go 9800pro, 9800XT, 6600GT or 6800.

Been doing some reading, and the best bang for buck card are in the
following order:

1. 6600GT 128MB AGP~$300
2. 6600 256MB AGP $220 / PCI-e $180

Australian dollars
Annoys me that the PCI-E is $40 cheaper than AGP!

Cheers

While I don't have any recommendations I would say don't waste your money on
a 9800 Pro. All I can say is what's the point of upgrading if you're adding
lastgen tech? My overclocked 9800 Pro (416/380) can't handle Doom3 in any
resolution above 800x600 at high detail, 2xAA, 8xAF. I'd save my ducats and
buy something worthwhile rather than last gen tech.

All of the Geforce 6200 256/128mb AGP 8X I have seen only have DVI output.
My monitor only accepts VGA.
This means I have to buy a new DVI TFT monitor! Just aint worth it.

Cheers

Yeah.

Either that or use the supplied DVI -> VGA adaptor.
