I' m having a problem when listening with headphones.
I get this irritating biep biep sound every 2 - 3 seconds or so. When listening to the speakers the bieps are not loud enough to be annoying.
I tried disabling the modem sound but that doesn't help.
Any suggestions are more than welcome.

Hi
Sorry for the time lag, the downloading of the drivers kept failing.
So I tried it...and it didn't help. Still stuck with the terrible beeps
While installing I did notice something remarkable:
when booting up, I do not here the beeps until after I log in. So I figured it was caused by one of the processes that are started after the login. I killed as many of them as I could, again with no success. ( of course I couldn't kill them all. Those windows complain about were apparantly system processes )
Maybe try XP ?
Here is another source for you to examine. Maybe you should get a BIOS update (this usually helps with Toshiba notebooks believe me, I work for those weirdo's).
If it only happens after he logs in then I doubt its a bios problem - more likely to be windows software. Incidently have you tried any other types of headphones. Long shot but you never know.

If it ain't broke, Don't fix it.
Yeah I know it's a long shot Techie2001. I work for Toshiba (I repair notebooks) and I know some models have lots of little problems. After contact with the factory it appeard most little problems with this model went away after a bios update. It doesn't mean it always works but hey, its much cheaper then sending it to me for repair, believe me ;-))
Peace all!
Success is basically nothing but overcoming the fear of faillure.
Mystery solved !
After a long long search on the internet I found out that some toshiba laptops have had sound problems ( they called it static )caused by polling of the infrared device.
I disabled the thing and guess what ? The beeping dissapeared completely !
Should have thought of that before, the IR port is right next to the audio out port.
So finally I can use my headphones !
