Poor TV performance

I have just purchased an AIW Radeon 9800 Pro to replace my 8500DV.

The major difference I notice is is that the TV component of the MMC
displays slightly 'jerky' pictures if a lot of the screen is changing
at the same time, ie. when watching tennis or golf. However, if I
record what I'm watching and play it as an MPEG afterwards, it plays
back properly with no jerkiness.

This jerkiness was not apparent on my old 8500DV. Any ideas how to fix
it?

I am not an expert on AIW but I think it is to do with motion smoothing
logic used to display the TV picture. I think also this is configurable.
The recording does not feature this processing and neither does the
playback of the recording. I used to know the terms for the motion
thing but I can't remember just now. Look in this general area though.

For those that might be interested, of if anyone finds this when doing
a search sometime in the future, the solution (from ATI) that worked.
Be advised, although I'm sure I had the latest chipset drivers from
nVidia installed, I didn't. Moral of the story, don't install over the
top, uninstall, reboot, then install them again.

1.
Update the bios for your system (nothing in BIOS history to suggest
this was a fault, but I did it anyway).

2.
Enter your Motherboard BIOS at boot and ensure that it is configured as
follows:

- INITIAL DISPLAY must be set to AGP
- Assign IRQ to VGA should be set to Enabled (I couldn't find this
option)
- AGP Aperture should be set to 256MB (I have 1Gb RAM so why not?)

3.
Ensure that you have no cards in the TOP PCI slot. (This is the PCI
slot next to the AGP slot). Always leave this slot empty as it shares
resources with the AGP slot.

That must be an AIW only issue. Or with "other" video cards. I've got a
Radeon 9550 in my AGP slot & the Wonder Pro tuner card in the slot right
next to it. Awesome TV on a Sony HS95P flatscreen!

Actually it's a motherboard issue. Most motherboards have at least two
slots hard-wired to the same interrupt line. Sometimes it's the AGP slot
and the PCI slot next to it, other times it's a couple of the PCI slots.
